The ABC identified many dependent care challenges across all types of care in the Chicago area. Champion companies and local partners of the ABC had a great number of employees affected by these challenges. But due to the large number of companies involved in the Chicago ABC, there were more resources available to solve these complex problems. After implementation of over 30 types of programs, funding companies and their employees had seen the following improvements:

More accredited centers

Greater parent/teacher communication through The Bridge Project

Better managed centers with flexible hours for working parents

More child care programs trained in health, safety, and infant care

Expanded curricula for early childhood programs, such as science

More school-age programs created or enhanced

School-age and pre-school providers trained in conflict resolution techniques (Adventures in Peacemaking)

Summer volunteer programs established for older youth

Escorted transportation services established for elders

Elder respite care program established and expanded
